Impact of Domestic Violence on Children (1 module)

This course provides basic information about the impact of domestic violence on children. This information will help you provide more effective interventions for building resiliency in children. As you go through this course material, keep in mind that not all children are impacted by domestic violence in the same way or to the same degree. 

Audience

This course is intended for domestic violence advocates. 

Objectives

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Identify statistics related to children exposed to domestic violence within the home;
  • Identify the range of experiences children are exposed to when domestic violence occurs in their homes;
  • Distinguish between risk and protective factors of children exposed to domestic violence;
  • Understand common themes related to children exposed to domestic violence; and
  • List advocacy tips to assist children. 

Credits

Participants are awarded 1.5 credit hours by NNADV for successful completion of this module. 

NNADV Program Standards

Credits for this module can be used to fulfill a portion of the 20-hour training identified in the NNADV Program Standards. This course fulfills 1.5 hours of the 20 hours recommended under the NNADV Program Standards.
