Jacksons Food Stores Help Raise Awareness Against Domestic Violence
In partnership with the Nevada Network Against Domestic Violence, Jacksons Food Stores raises $161,369 in four states
(Reno, NV) – In the 10th anniversary year of the “Give the Gift of Peace” campaign, Jacksons Food Stores and its customers donated a total of $161,369 ($86,369 from customer donations and $75,000 matched by Jacksons) as part of the commitment to create Compassionate Communities. There will be a press conference this Wednesday, January 15th at 11 a.m. in Boise, Idaho where Jacksons will present the contribution check to the Coalitions Against Domestic Violence.
This donation marks the highest level of contribution in the program’s history. Since the inception of the campaign, the northwest has raised over $750,000 in total. The campaign ran from Thanksgiving through Christmas Day. Jacksons sold paper doves in $1, $5 and $10 increments in all of their stores in all four states of operation to raise funds for the prevention, education and support for victims of domestic violence and their children, sexual assault survivors, and adolescents experiencing relationship abuse.
“Jacksons Food Stores is pleased to support this important campaign to prevent domestic violence in our communities. Together, we thank our customers for generously responding to the campaign to increase the level of support for victims of domestic violence for the past 10 years,” said Jacksons Food Stores Owner John Jackson.
During the 2013 campaign in Nevada, Jacksons Food Stores and its customers donated a total of $22,926 ($12,271 from customer donations and $10,655 matched by Jacksons).
“John Jackson’s willingness to bring the attention of his customers to the daily struggles of victims and survivors working toward a violence-free life is tremendously important to our efforts to raise awareness,” says NNADV Executive Director Sue Meuschke, who also thanks those who gave generously last year.
