Our purpose is to advocate for change, educate our communities, and support organizations that provide direct services to victims and their families.
NNADV is a private nonprofit 501(C)(3) corporation. We were founded in 1980, by the then five existing domestic violence program directors to help Nevada’s communities respond effectively and creatively to the needs of domestic violence victims. Since its inception, NNADV has assisted in the growth and development of domestic violence programs throughout Nevada. In addition to assisting in the establishment of domestic violence advocacy and response programs in areas lacking services, NNADV has worked to improve existing domestic violence resources statewide.
Our Mission Statement
“In an effort to promote social change and empower women and all persons affected by domestic violence, NNADV is an inclusive network which supports member programs, communities, and individuals to work on the elimination of domestic violence and the core issues of societal oppression.”
Our Philosophy Statement
“Domestic and sexual violence has been a socially condoned phenomenon. In light of our present knowledge of the plight and of the myriad needs of victims of domestic violence, we consider it our duty to work toward the eradication of domestic and sexual violence in our society. We also consider it our duty to help women escape lives dominated by violence and to spread the message that women have the right not to be abused. Through coordinated interaction, we address these issues on a statewide level.”
